世界的に人気を集めるカナダ・バンクーバー発の4人組・脱力系サーフロックバンド Peach Pit (ピーチ・ピット) のニューアルバム『You And Your Friends』からニューシングル「Shampoo Bottles」をご紹介します。本アルバムについてボーカルの ニール・スミス (Neil Smith)) は、「僕たちが大切にしている人たちのことを歌ったコレクション。全曲、実話を元に書いたんだ」と語るように、この「Shampoo Bottles」もニールの元カノが置いて出て行った小物について歌です。ビデオも映画調だけど、彼女の置いて行ったシャンプーボトルの香りを嗅いだり、ウィッグを被ってみたり、未練タラタラで病的な男の様子が描かれています。
Shampoo Bottles is a song about the stuff my ex-girlfriend left at my apartment after we broke up and how even after I’d used up all the soap in the bottle and the deodorant in the stick, I still didn’t throw them out for a while
「Shampoo Bottles」は別れた彼女が俺のアパートに残して出て行った物を題材にした歌だよ。しばらく捨てる気にもなれず、シャンプーやデオドラントを使おうとしたさ。
Peach Pit (ピーチ・ピット)ってどんなバンド？
カナダのバンクーバー発、脱力系サーフロックバンド、Peach Pit。自分たちの音楽を「風船ガムを噛んだようなポップ」彼らは2016年に『Sweet FA』でデビューを果たします。初めてリハーサルをした時に演奏したのがギターのクリスが作ったPeach Pitという曲だったことからバンド名を決定。全員、幼い頃からの友人同士で今は同じ家に住んでいるという仲良しバンドです。風変わりなプロモーションビデオも毎回話題に。
