A: Hey, are you going to have vacation at the year end?
B: Yeah, from tomorrow! And you?
A: Me too! What are your plans for that?
B: I’m flying out to New York with my girlfriend tonight. How about you?
A: Count Down!! That sounds really cool! I’m jealous of you! I’m going back to my hometown with my family. My parents want to see my kids….
B: That’s nice, too! How come are you having a glum face?
A: Around the time of year, everyone rushes back to their hometown so trains will be jam-packed and it’s a lot of trouble traveling with kids and buying gifts for the people back home.
B: I can imagine that. You know I’m claustrophobic but we’ll have to sit on planes for 13hours!
A: Ouch! That’s too bad. I wish we could buy “The Anywhere Door ”!
B: I’ll drink to that!

A: よう、年末休みとるのか？
B: ああ、明日からな。お前は？
A: 俺もだよ。何か予定はあるのか？
B: 彼女と今夜の飛行機でニューヨークへ行くんだ？お前は？
A: カウントダウンか！そりゃ、すごいな。全く羨ましいぜ。俺は家族で里帰りさ。両親が孫に合わせろってさ。
B: いいじゃないか。なんで、浮かない顔してるんだ？
A: だってさ、この時期みんな帰省するから、電車はすし詰め状態だし、子供連れの旅行って大変なんだぞ。みんなに土産買うのも面倒だし。
B: そうだね。俺なんて閉所恐怖症なのに飛行機に13時間も乗るんだぜ。
A: そりゃ、辛いね。どこかに「どこでもドア」が売ってればなあ。
B: 全く、同感だ！

会社の喫煙所で同僚たちが話していそうな会話でした。

・fly out to= 飛行機で飛んでいく
・sound really cool= すごいね！
・I’m jealous of (you)=（あなたが）羨ましいです
・go back to one’s hometown= 帰省する
・have a glum face= 浮かない顔をする
・around the time of year= この時期
・rush back to one’s hometown= 一斉に帰省する
・jam-packed= すし詰め状態の
・trouble 〜ing= 〜するのが大変だ、面倒だ
・I can imagine (that)=（それを）想像できる。＊転じて、「そうだね、わかるよ」などのシチュエーションでよく使われるフレーズ
・claustrophobic= 閉所恐怖症の
・The Anywhere Door= どこでもドア
・I’ll drink to that!= 同感だ！＊もともとは「乾杯!」を意味するフレーズですが、何かに賛成し、その景気付けに乾杯することから、同意・賛同を表すフレーズとして使われます。
